Net als in de eerste twee boeken is er een soort format voor het verhaal. Robert Langdon bevindt zich in het midden van een religieus mysterie waarbij een ultra-geheim op het punt staat om aan de massa onthuld te worden. Natuurlijk is er een vrouwelijke heldin om hem te ondersteunen en helpen bij het vullen van gaten in Roberts kennis. Ook is er de altijd aanwezige gestoorde schurk die tegelijkertijd briljant en fysiek superieur is en handelt in wat volgens hem het beste is van de wereld. Het hele verhaal is verder goed geschreven en het einde is subliem.
Veel mensen doen negatief over dit boek, maar is dat wel terecht? De boeken van Brown zijn goed toegankelijk geschreven en zorgen voor veel leesplezier. Als je fan bent van drama, actie, complottheorieën en geschiedenis dan is dit zeker een goed boek om te lezen. Misschien is dit boek minder goed dan de voorgaande delen (Angels en Demons en DaVince Code’ toch houdt Dan Brown zijn lezers van begin tot einde gevangen.
